In the Footsteps of Van Gogh: Amsterdam, Paris, and Provence

--------------------------

January 8th - Depart from GSP to Amsterdam

January 9th - Orient to Amsterdam and go to the van Gogh Museum

January 10th - Excursion to Otterlo to see van Gogh paintings in the Kroller-Muller Museum, with stopover in Utrecht

January 11th - Visit the Rijksmuseum, explore Amsterdam

January 12th- Go to The Hague and visit the Panorama Mesdag- Stay in Den Haag

January 13th- Continue to explore the Hague as van Gogh did with Mauve

January 14th- Leave early in morning for Paris, with a stop over in Brussels, arrive in Paris

January 15th- Orient to the city and visit Notre Dame Cathedral, Ste-Chapelle, and the Place de la Concorde

January 16th- Walking tour of Montmarte, the bohemian artists’ neighborhood—where he lived-- in 19th century Paris, including visits to Sacre Coeur and the Montmartre Museum + Musee d’Orsay

January 17th- Louvre

January 18th- Excursion to Auvers-sur-Oise Van Gogh’s final place of residence and the location of his grave; visit Le Maison De van Gogh , the Hotel that Van Gogh lived and died in. Go back to Paris hotel.

January 19th- Check out of Paris hotel and travel to Arles. Arrive in Arles early afternoon. Take a walking tour of Arles, including the Roman Arena, the church of Ste-Trophime, Les Alyscamps.

January 20th- Continue exploring Arles, including the Place du Forum, and the Espace Van Gogh and Le Pont de Langlois Aux Laavandieres (bridge Van Gogh painted)

January 21th- Excursion to the Monastery of Montomajour and walk through the countryside of La Crau on the return to Arles

January 22th- Explore St. Remy, the asylum where van Gogh stayed

January 23nd- Leave early from Arles -> travel to Avignon-> Geneve. Explore Geneve to Milan. Take overnight Eurail from Milan to Rome.

January 24th- Orient to Rome, go to mass at St. Peter’s

January 25th- Visit to the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel

January 26th- Explore Coliseum and Pantheon

January 27th- Visit to the catacombs of St. Calisto and walk the ancient roads of Rome, St. Peter’s in Chains

January 28th- Leave Rome for GSP
